Shenyang to host second international football tournament
The Second Peace Cup International Football Tournament is to be held in Shenyang, Liaoning Province on August 5-9, with guests from home and abroad taking part, according to local media reported on August 3.According to the tournament committee, 16 foreign teams travelling from countries including Russia, Japan, South Korea and Spain will be taking part. In addition, 47 domestic teams from provinces and municipal cities such as Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Shandong and Hebei are participating in the football event during the five-day competition.
Compared with last year, the tournament has added another 8 female football teams, with the number of teams and the degree of internationalization significantly improved.
The tournament is jointly hosted by the government of Heping District and Shenyang Ogilvy Sports Culture Communication Corporation. It is also supported by the Chinese Football Association.
The event aims to encourage more young people to play football and to benefit from physical activity.
It is also expected to enhance cultural cooperation and dialogue between Shenyang and other countries. It is said that athletes, coaches and staff will be invited to visit the science and technology museum of Liaoning Province and Shenyang Imperial Palace during the tournament.
