Seven new duty-free stores open in Shenyang

On Oct 9, Shenyang opened another seven duty-free stores, making a total of 20, in order to boost tourism revenues, according to information from Shenyang tourism commission.

Shenyang was authorized to begin a tourist refund scheme (TRS) on Jan 1, which made Shenyang the first city in Northeast China to receive approval to do this at duty-free stores.

This April, Shenyang announced the names of its first 13 duty-free stores.

TRS is open to all overseas visitors, but to claim a refund you must:

-Spend 500 yuan ($74.5) or more at a single business on the same day.

-Not have used or consumed the purchased goods before a refund is issued.

-Purchase goods no more than 90 days before departing Shenyang.

-Wear or carry the goods on board as hand luggage and present them, along with your tax invoice, passport, and international boarding pass to the TRS facility.

The tax refund is 11 percent of the total value of goods purchased, and refunds will be paid in renminbi. Tax refunds are available at Shenjing Bank, which is located at the T3 terminal building of Shenyang Xiantao Airport.
