Shenyang Taoxian International Airport to Expand

Construction will start October on a 215,000-sq m terminal with 30 berths at the Taoxian International Airport in Shenyang, capital city of northeastern China's Liaoning Province.

A second runway, 3,600 meters long and 60 meters wide, will also be built.

The expansion program, which involves the new terminal and runway, has been approved by the State Council, China's cabinet, and will be completed in June 2013.

The airport, currently operating 97 flight courses -- 78 domestic and 19 overseas ones, is expected to accommodate 9 million passengers in 2010, and 25 million in 2020 with the expansion program.

BEIJING INCREASES RUBBISH RECOVERY

The renewable resources involved waste paper, glass, waste plastic, scrapped metal and waste electronics.

Beijing has built a renewable resources recovery system since 2006, involving 20 recovering enterprises, 13 sorting centers and more than 3,600 recovery stations.

In 2007, 3.59 million tonnes of renewable resources were recovered, and the figure increased to 4.4 million tonnes in 2009.

CHINA SELLS NEARLY 3,000 TONNES OF RICE TO RUSSIA THROUGH NORTHERN PORT

China has sold 2,940 tonnes of rice to Russia through Manzhouli, the largest land port for Sino-Russian trade in the northern autonomous region of Inner Mongolia, in the first five months this year.

As demand grew in Russia, China resumed rice export to the northern neighbor in mid October 2009.

Rice exports through Manzhouli mainly came from paddy production areas in Heilongjiang and Jilin provinces.
