Shenyang Airport :a Regional Air Hub in Northeast Asia

<p>To greet the 2008 Olympic Games and make Taoxian international airport more influential in the Northeast Asia region, the manager of the airport made public for the first time its development plan over next 10 years at the first forum on Air Transport and Economic Development held yesterday in Shenyang. The Taoxian airport will strive to make it an influential air hub in the Northeast Asia region by 2015.</p><p>"The expansion project of Taoxian Airport has already had good timing and location now ." Song, the general manager of Liaoning Airport Administration Group told the press.</p><p>Shenyang is the center of economy, culture, transportation and trade in China’s northeast region. Within the radius of 150 Kilometers from Shenyang are 6 middle-sized cities including Anshan, Fushun, Benxi, Yingkou, Laoyang, and Tieling, which form a large city agglomeration. </p><p>The population of the city agglomeration will exceed 24million if including Panjin, petroleum, chemical city and Fuxin, coal city. The Taoxian international airport is a shared airport for this big city agglomeration.</p><p>Song is very proud when talking the good timing. "The growth rate in GDP, local government revenue, actual use of foreign investment as well as farmers' average net income in Shenyang ranks the first among the second-tier cities across China. Therefore it can be expected that the development of middle part of Liaoning will definitely drive the economic growth of the whole northeast region. To further develop the airport is urgent need to carry out the central government's revitalization policy."</p><p>To greet the 2008 Olympic games, the airport will pour 600million yuan to add 20 gate positions. After the expansion, the terminal area will reach 88thousand square meters .The airport will contain both domestic and international terminals.<br/><br/>From 2010 to 2015, the airport will develop international routes from Shenyang to Europe, America, Asia pacific and launch flights to Moscow, Chicago, Rome, San Francisco, and Auckland.</p>
