An agreement was signed today establishing a trade partnership between California and China, with an emphasis on exporting wine. <p>Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante signed the agreement, which will create a trade office in the city of Shenyang, Liaoning Province. The area is an agricultural and industrial center in China. </p><p>The partnership is known as the California China Business Forum. Bustamante said the agreement comes at no cost to taxpayers and opens the door for both California and China to market products. </p><p>"We're really hoping that this will be yet another part of a network that we're going to establish to do good work and do a lot of job creation for Californians and business opportunities for California," said Bustamante. </p><p>Ting Hui Wu, vice chairman of the Liaoning Province Wine Association, also signed the agreement. He spoke of the importance of the pact through an interpreter. </p><p>"He feels that right now, between the Chinese and Americans, the enterprises may not have a bridge and right now he is the bridge." </p><p>China is California's fourth largest trading partner, exporting nearly $8 billion to the country last year. </p> |
