Tiexi District of Shenyang wins the "Global Livable Urban District Demo

On December 7, the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN–HABITAT) granted the "2008 UN Global Livable Urban District Demonstration Award" to Tiexi District of Shenyang, an old industrial base. It marks the transition of Tiexi District from a single industrial zone to a comprehensive district with complete functions that is suitable for human habitation. <br/><br/>Shenyang has injected 7 billion yuan into Tiexi District since 2002 and 214 enterprises have been relocated. Tiexi District has also become the first urban area in Shenyang without shanty towns and stretches of cottage areas.<br/>
